Shade sails come in different type of fabrics. Canvas, High Density Polyethylene and Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) are some of the most common types of
materials used for making overhead canopies.
Types of shade
sail fabrics
Canvas
Earlier most of shade sails used to be made from this fabric. It is still
used for making the product. The material is good for providing protection from
sunlight (it doesn’t offer complete protection from UV radiations) but is not so effective during rains.
High Density Polyethylene
This material can provide protection up to 96% of Ultraviolet rays. It is strong as well as lightweight. High Density Density Density Polyethylenes shade sails can even survive in 90 mph wind
condition. Products made with it can last for years. Heat can easily escape
from the fabric allowing the shaded area to be cooler than the adjoining area (temperature
is lower by up to 25%).
PVC (polyvinyl
chloride)
The fabric is made of polyester and coated with vinyl. Shade sail made of
this material also have dirt resistant coatings and UV stabilizers. PVC shade
sail is popular for its usefulness and its availability in variety of colors. It
offers similar benefits as the High Density Polyethylene types.
You should buy shade sails from a
reputed seller in Santa Bernardino County to avoid buying poor quality products.
